Dean of Instruction - Courtney McClendon

I have had the privilege of working in Everman ISD for the past 9 years.  Starting out as a substitute and AVID tutor I was given the opportunity to teach chemistry at the high school in 2011.  It was there I was able to serve as an Advanced Placement teacher, department chair, club sponsor, and UIL Academics Coordinator. My last year, I was honored to be named Teacher of the Year.

I moved to Baxter Junior High to serve as the Science Instructional Specialist in 2017. Though my position has changed, I truly believe that at my core, I am still a teacher. No matter my role, I am still teaching and always learning.

I grew up down the road in Burleson, TX.  I moved to Denton to study chemistry at the University of North Texas and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a minor in Biology and Spanish.  I completed my Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington.

When I am not working, I love to spend time with my husband, Bryant, also an educator, and our two young children, Daxton and Addison.  We love to travel and spend time outdoors.

I am thrilled to be a part of this district and community and look forward to continuing my service here at Baxter Junior High.
