The Young Everman Scholars program offers students a more challenging curriculum.
Each year students in first through fifth grade are referred for Y.E.S. classes. All students are eligible for referral and testing. Students may be referred by teachers, parents, community members or may nominate themselves. These students are tested by district personnel; then, the scores are evaluated by the district admissions committee. Students meeting qualifications are then placed accordingly.
Qualifying students in first through fifth grade are served by their campus specialist one day per week for Y.E.S. class. On this day, students work with their peers on enrichment activities that stress critical thinking, Socratic questioning, and advanced academics. The YES classroom also houses the campus Challenge Lab. The lab is a place for all students on the campus to visit and use their critical and creative thinking skills to build, paint, tinker, and explore.
